Conde Naste Traveler calls Goldeneye “The
epicentre of jet set Jamaica”
Ian Fleming wrote of his stays at Goldeneye: “….above all, Jamaica has provided a wonderful annual escape from the cold and grime of winters in England, into blazing sunshine, natural beauty, and the most healthy life I could wish to live” Owner Chris Blackwell : “Goldeneye, a quiet spon on the north coast of Jamaica, is one of my favourite places in the world. It was Ian Fleming’s home for many years and it was here he wrote all of his James Bond novels. I have always found it a source of inspiration and renewal. It’s a natural paradise and the way it has been designed, in harmony with nature, ensures complete serenity. Service is discreet and you do as you please” Goldeneye is surrounded by dense tropical vegetation and is completely private. It is no wonder stars like Jim Carrey, Harrison Ford, Pierce Bronson, and supermodels like Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford have made this their holiday haven. Sting wrote “Every Breath You Take” here. Goldeneye is a magical unspoiled 15 acre seaside estate on a bluff offering a dramatic coastline of secret coves and private beaches. It is located in Oracabessa, a long established port town for the banana trade in past years. Ian Fleming writes: “…I sat down at the red bullet – wood desk….and, for better or for worse, wrote the first of the twelve best – selling thrillers that have sold around twenty million copies and been translated into twenty-three languages. I wrote every one of them at this desk with the jalousies closed around me so that I would no be distracted by the birds and the flowers and the sunshine outside….The books featured a man called James Bond….Would these books have been born if I had not been living in the gorgeous vacuum of a Jamaican holiday?
